華盛頓全州分成七個(gè)地理區(qū)域。西北部沿太平洋是奧林匹克半島，島上荒涼的奧林匹克山脈高2424米，大部分地區(qū)人跡罕至。南部沿海是威拉帕丘陵，地勢比較開闊，有深水良港。普克特海峽低地從加拿大伸向俄勒岡州。位于西部的奧林匹克山及威拉帕山與東部的喀斯喀卡山之間。低地的東邊是喀斯喀山區(qū)，山峰高峻，由南向北從1219米升到2438米。其中4392米的雷尼爾山是國內(nèi)第五高峰。哥倫比亞盆地位于州中央，海拔300～750米，農(nóng)業(yè)發(fā)達(dá)。實(shí)際和潛在的水力發(fā)電量占全國的30%。東北部的奧卡諾根高地海拔高度為1200～2400米，擁有州內(nèi)大部分金屬礦產(chǎn)。東南部布盧山地區(qū)河谷內(nèi)可耕作，山區(qū)草原在夏季可供放牧，但居民不多。州內(nèi)大多數(shù)城市包括西雅圖都沿皮吉特海灣而建。這是一個(gè)長達(dá)320多公里的大海盆，最寬處可達(dá)60公里。300多個(gè)島嶼散布其間。
